Our story

In 1977, Mr Navaratnam Sivakumaran, a young and passionate engineer, founded ISF with a vision to add value to local resources by designing and indigenizing manufacturing of processing machinery, which contributed to the nation’s industrial growth and economy. In the early 1980’s, ISF devoted itself to designing and manufacturing machinery for a wide range of industries, including fisheries and distillery. ISF successfully manufactured plants such as fish meal plants, poultry feed plants, and sugar plants, with palmyrah sap as the raw material.

Expansion within the Process Industry

In the early 1990's, ISF collaborated with multinationals such as Unilever and Nestlé to manufacture equipment for their processing needs, and soon emerged as a leading manufacturer of food processing machinery in the country. In 1996, ISF established a fully-owned subsidiary in India to manufacture Dairy processing machinery, and pioneered the manufacturing of milk cooling tanks. By the late 1990’s, ISF successfully developed and launched soft ice cream machinery for Hindustan Levers.

In the early 2000’s, ISF commenced exporting soft ice cream machines with CE marking to Europe and the Middle East. In the mid 2000’s, by expanding its technology, ISF became the total solution provider for Dairy Industry. ISF continued to expand its product line, venturing into industries such as cosmetics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, etc.

In 2010, ISF expanded its product portfolio by adding ‘End to End’ solutions for Coconut Process Industry. ISF succeeded in providing the solution, commencing from the receipt of nuts to manufacturing value added products such as, Coconut Water, Dessicated Coconut, VCO, Coconut Milk, Coconut  Flour, Coconut Chips, Creamed Coconut, etc. In 2018, ISF commenced exporting coconut processing plants.
In 2020, ISF further developed an automated coconut handling system which includes PLC based controls with  SCADA system to generate various reports with data capturing while eliminating conventional manual operations. This system has substantially reduced manpower requirement.

Current Operations

Today, ISF is a leading bi-national engineering company, involved in the designing and manufacturing of processing machinery. Currently, ISF operates in India and Sri Lanka, with state- of-the-art manufacturing facilities at both locations, staffed with trained, well experienced engineers and highly skilled technicians
