BoI Chairman and Director General Jayampathy Bandaranayake with the Directors after signing the agreement
An investment agreement for Rs 192 million was signed recently between BOI and Heritage Premier Foods (Pvt) Ltd. to set up a production facility at the Horana IPZ.
This is under the Nipayum Sri Lanka 300 Enterprises Programme. On behalf of Heritage, their directors N. Sivakumaran and L. Sivakumaran signed the agreement.
The BOI was represented by the Director General Jayampathi D. Bandaranayake.
Heritage Premier Foods (Pvt) Ltd. is a subsidiary company of Industrial Stainless Steel Fabrications (Pvt) Ltd. (ISF) a flagship of Sri Lanka engineering industry who has pioneered the manufacturing of plant and machinery for food and dairy processing industry, supplying to multinational companies involved in food and dairy processing locally and globally.
Industrial Stainless Steel Fabrications has a long history of manufacturing high quality food processing equipment in Sri Lanka.
Industrial Stainless Steel fabrication is the only Sri Lankan company who has been successfully operating a fully owned subsidiary company in India for the past 16 years profitably with a turnover of US $ 5 million.
Industrial Stainless Steel Fabrications Pvt Ltd., Sri Lanka was established in 1991 and has been producing world class food and dairy process machinery for local and International markets including the Indian market. Their clientele includes most of the multinationals involved in food and dairy processing in Sri Lanka and overseas including Nestle Lanka, Unilever, Glaxo, and New Zealand Milk Products.
When Nestle India Ltd., purchased refrigerated milk cooling tanks from industrial stainless steel fabrications of Sri Lanka in 1995 they were impressed with the quality and performance of those, they requested ISF to set up a manufacturing facility in India and recommended to the Government of India to grant necessary approvals.
The Foreign Investment Promotion Board of India granted approval to Industrial Stainless Steel Fabrications Pvt Ltd of Sri Lanka to set up a fully owned subsidiary with permission to remit 100 percent of profits after paying all local taxes.
Accordingly, ISF Industries Pvt Ltd., India was established in 1996 with an equity of Rs. 3 million Indian Rupees. The turnover of the company grew steadily and touched US $ 2.39 million in the year 2008-09.
Due to the free trade agreement between the Sri Lanka and India, Softy ice cream dispensing machines manufactured by ISF is allowed duty free into India and ISF Industries Pvt Ltd has been marketing these all over India and provides necessary after sales services.
As a result, ISF Sri Lanka was able to export more than US $ 3 million worth of Softy ice cream machines to India and they are very popular in Rajasthan area.
Heritage Premier Foods hopes to bring in a new dimension to local food processing arena by coupling their long experience of food processing machinery manufacture with new trends in nutrition management.
Heritage Premier Foods would concentrate on giving its customers value for their money.
Under this investment a state-of-the-Art factory will be put up in the industrial zone for the manufacture of tea, fruit juice, instant soups and other food products. This would generate more than 200 employment opportunities.

The ISF Ice Bank Type Milk Cooling Tank rapidly chills milk to cross the critical temperature of +10oC and then gently to +4oC in less than two hours, thus rendering milk safe and free from the dangers of bacterial growth and lipolysis.
The batch method uses a vat pasteurizer which consists of a jacketed vat surrounded by either circulating water, steam or heating coils of water or steam. In the vat the milk is heated to 65 C and held for 30 minutes followed by rapid cooling.
